Introduction to Frontier Life: Borderlands, Settlement & Colonial Encounters

What is Frontier Life?

Frontier Life: Borderlands, Settlement & Colonial Encounters is a collection of primary source documents that are illustrative of the frontiers that were created by the migration of Europeans to North America, Australasia and Africa from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries.

The holdings of fourteen different libraries from across the world have been digitised and published on this website. These documents will help students and scholars deepen their understanding of the key themes that arose on the social, economic and cultural frontiers in North and Central America, Australasia, and Southern and Western Africa.
